In this heightened political frenzy to the run-up to the 2008 Presidential elections; the question
has been asked of one of the candidates, namely Mr. Romney, does religion matter? Well, the answer is
"yes" and "no". Let me explain, claiming a "religion" doesn't make it, or you, right or
righteous.
Does religion matter, this political season, is referring to the fact the Mr. Romney is a Mormon. The
question is; will we vote for a Mormon?
Yes, to some, his declaration of being a Mormon will
effect their choices. For me, it makes no difference. I will vote for the candidate who has the
character, record and stance on issues that are closest to that of the only perfect One, Jesus Christ.
The claim of any particular "religion" is moot.
The secular definition of "religion" (as defined in an old Webster's of mine) is:
1. belief in a divine of super-human power of powers to be obeyed and worshiped as the creator(s) and
rule(s) of the universe
2. expression of this belief in conducted ritual.
God's definition: "religion" is nothing.
Did you know that true Christianity is not a "religion" it's a relationship?
You either have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ or you don't. Additionally, did you know we
don't determine if we are Christians or not; God does? We label ourselves (call ourselves something) on
the outside but God sees the heart.
As an aside: if you want (or worship) "nothing" here, you are assured of having "nothing" when you
die.
What we believe "means absolutely nothing" if it doesn't agree with God's purposes or plans. His Word
reveals his desires.
Finally, (as sensitive as truth will) any "expression of belief or ritual" apart from Jesus Christ is
"nothing."
For by (Jesus Christ) all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones, powers, rulers, or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. Colossians
1:16
My point: My hearts desire is that you are saved; that you have abundant life here and a home in heaven
someday. Don't be deceived.
Trust in Christ, and Him alone,
What say you? Does it matter?
