- Reactive not Proactive, again

The sentiment of The National Day of Prayer, held on September 16, 2005 was noble as we all are moved at the lost of every material possession and the loved ones of those devastated by hurricane Katrina. Additionally, the lost of life does deserved a special memorial as all life is precious. With that said this “day of prayer” is a “reactive” approach, akin to the hurricane response itself. Much has been made about the response being too slow, and those “proactive” measures, such has finishing the levy project and implementing evacuation plans, were not performed.

The National Day of Prayer called for “the nation to unite in prayer”. This presupposes that we can unite and acknowledge God exists (if not, whom or what are we praying to).

As a nation, though we won’t admit or are unaware of it, we are in agreement with Michael Newdow and others who openly disavow God. As a nation, we live as atheists. Yes, we have individuals who love the One true God but “we will rise or fall as a nation”.

War, terrorism, natural disasters, energy crisis, re-definition of the family, growing debt, the racial / economical divide and a myriad of things should stir us to be “proactive” about our direction; are we One Nation Under God? An implicit choice is a negative choice.

God’s grace gives us the ability to love Him willingly, by following His way of salvation and living, which is the ultimate expression of love. We are not coerced into a personal relationship with Him. Knowing Christ here assures a relationship with Him forever. Eternity is at stake here.

“Several faiths” speaking to a congregation created by One God? It’s ludicrous and hypocritical to come before Almighty God in this fashion and expect Him to hear our prayers. We must come to an agreement on this God.

… How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him…

God is not generic, the Lord is Jesus Christ, and again, we either follow Him or not. There is but one faith, one God, one Lord, and His name is Jesus.

As a nation we may choose another God, Allah, Budda, Mother Earth etc. or atheism but, we need to choose. The idea that we can have a neutral position or have god as we know him is false. We must come to God His way.

…So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth….

Choose today whom you will serve, time is running out.
