Mel’s fall from grace? - the short and sweet of it I found
interesting the attention Mel Gibson got after his “fall from grace”. Unfortunately, he got
drunk and said some unsavory things. Although it was not stated openly, I’m
of the opinion that he was given extra attention because of “The
Passion Of The Christ”. Is
Mel expected to be perfect because of his claim to be a Christian? Nothing
can be farther from the truth; Christ died for sinners and Mel’s fall
is just another clarification of the scriptures. It is by grace we are saved; God’s
unmerited favor which none of us deserve. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being
justified freely by his grace
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Romans 3:23 For God so
loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son
into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be
saved. John 3:16-17 *****WARNING***** Failure to accept
God’s method of salvation has only one result: Eternal separation from God in a place the
Bible calls hell. Jesus Christ
is the only escape from the penalty of sin: For the
wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 Neither is
there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given
among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12 Only
perfection is allowed into heaven as God cannot co-exist with imperfection.
Jesus Christ died as a substitute for us all, that sin may be forgiven; but
perfection (perfect love) requires that you willingly return the sentiment by
trusting Him as your savior. Obviously
Mel, like everyone, must draw near to God to conquer our sinful nature, but… Oh how sweet it is: If we
confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 That is what
“The Passion” depicted, the gospel (good news). For he hath
made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor. 5:21 And we have
seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 1 John 4:14 Did Mel
really fall from grace? Impossible if he genuinely trusted Christ as his Lord
and Savior. He just strayed and stumbled. Fear not, God is able to take care
of His own. My sheep
hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them
eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them
out of my hand. John 10:27-28 Consider
Christ. |
