The Rich are Getting Older and the Poor are Dying Young

Gap in Life Expectancy Widens for the Nation

Couldn't resist writing about this latest vain attempt to convince us that we a getting better. In reality, it is far from the truth. The latest report stating that the rich live approximately four years longer that the poor is ridiculous. What is the margin of error when calculating life expectancy? Just thought I'd ask as we are in the height of the political season. Anyhow, four years! Another great discovery is that since 1900 we gained seven years of life; weeeeeeeeeeeeee! Reportedly, the average life expectancy of the rich is 79 while for the poor it's only 75. Interesting when you consider this:

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Psalm 90:10

That would be "70; and if by reason of strength they be 80 years" but the important part is "it is soon cut off." We need to be concerned about where we are going when "we fly away."

My prayer is that you...
consider Christ
