Scanning a local newspaper (The Washington Times, Tuesday, May 10, 2005) I came across four articles (see below) involving homosexuality or transgender issues in the ‘A’ section alone. I don’t think there are too many people who are not aware of the many facets of these lifestyles or worldviews. The question struck me when pondering this: Why the misunderstanding of what an evangelical worldview is? Christians, by default, are evangelical. Any person, who has genuinely surrendered his/her life to Jesus Christ, is a follower of His teachings and desires the everyone receive saving grace. Evangelicals desire that all might have abundant life here and the promise of heaven after earthly death. The great commission is the most important commandment giving to believers. This worldview, predicated on God’s grace and the welfare of others, is the only lifestyle that works, as it is God’s best. Don’t think so? Look at the lives around you. Evangelicals, because of the gift they’ve been received, cannot sit back, in apathy, and ignore actions and lifestyles that are destructive and in total contrast to God’s Word. The consequences are too severe:
The Holy Bible is the final authority for evangelical Christians. This eliminates confusion. It’s not your way or my way, it’s God’s way; which is always right and best. The Bible is God’s revealed Word and the manual for mankind. The Biblical worldview assures right thinking; to ignore the Bible and God’s way of living lead to distress. Not sure this is the case? Look at the lives around you. The Christian worldview is clear, it simply agrees with God. When we don’t agree with God there are consequences. There is no other worldview or lifestyle that satisfies. One will never be content until they repent and receive forgiveness for their sin by trusting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives. The question again: Honestly, I think the misunderstanding stems from selfishness. Some would rather suffer in sin than bow to authority. Be it men or God’s. The problem is we can’t escape for God. He loves us even when we don’t love Him. His pursuit is endless. We either submit or suffer lost. One retired Navy commander who served as a nuclear submarine engineer. Another refueled B-52 bombers.
