"CONNECTIONS"

Answers to questions:

Can you explain Colossians 3:23 to me?

In Col 3, Paul is speaking to believers and giving them Godly principles for Holy Christian living. He finishes with Col. 3:23-25

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Col. 3:23

This verse tells us that Christians are not to be lazy and that we are not to be men pleasers. What we do should be done with enthusiasm unto the Lord; our work, when we go to church, and whatever else we do during the week. This is the standard for the Christian: Everything should be done “heartily, as to the Lord.”

This chapter is interesting in that it ends with the “servant, master” relationship. This could be interpreted to mean slavery, as we think of it via civil rights but, it is actually more closely related to the job relationship; boss and worker. In either case “everything”, for the believer, is still everything; regardless of the situation we find ourselves in. The Lord (as revealed in verse 25) is the one who rewards; good and bad. We are to serve Him. Chapter 4 opens with the admonition for bosses. When the master and the servant fears God; all is done right, decent, and in order.
