Another "One Down, Many" To Go

Harold Camping Missing the Mark, Again

Okay, I couldn't resist writing about Mr. Camping and his claim of being a prophet. Since May 21st was a bust (being added to his previous 1994 error), reportedly, Camping is saying that he was somewhat wrong as a spiritual rapture did occur . This is yet another of the many false prophets that are in the world today:

    The ridiculous new predictions:
  • 1. Since the spiritual rapture happened on May 21st, the Holy Spirit's presence is no longer in the world and therefore, no one else can be saved
  • 2. October 21st 2011 is now the day that will usher in the real physical rapture

If not before, I assume the next crazy time will be December 21st 2012, (the end of the Mayan calendar); which, supposedly, will usher in the end of the world. For the lack of a better phrase; all of this is hogwash'.

I had to write this and put some truth to this error. The only authority for the end of it all is God; and the only physical access we have to Him is through prayer and His Word, the Bible. Now, here is where we can get sidetracked; believers and unbelievers have different worldviews therefore they are contrary to each other. Therefore, we must drop back and leave it this way: "This is what the Bible says, whether we believe it or not:

The rapture is the next event in God's plan for mankind - 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

No one knows when the rapture will occur, the day nor the hour - Matthew 25:13

The problem with Camping and all who predict such things is that they missed the point of why the Bible was written: The Bible is a book about the redemption of mankind. The Lord Jesus Christ died so that you, and I, could really live. Genuine Christ followers believe in the imminent coming of Christ; that is, He could come at any moment. Therefore, we don't fall for the myriad of hoaxes that arise.

Mr. Camping has failed because he is too rapped up in his "faith" to honor the one who should be the object of his faith, Christ Jesus.

... And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Matt 24:4-14

You see, God is in the saving business; He wants you to have an abundant life here and a perfect one with Him someday.

God has called all genuine Christians to tell others about a great beginning, not an impending end. Therefore, if Camping were genuine, he would compel others to Consider Christ in order to have a fantastic end, whenever it occurs.
