Answers to questions:

What does the Bible say about Halloween?

This question came up during our last study and got me to thinking; We (mean Christians) shun Halloween but do we really have the Biblical stance for our position? Well, looking into the history of Halloween brought up several principles that are completely contrary to true Christianity; they are too many to site here therefore; go to this site and have a read http://www.history.com/content/halloween/real-story-of-halloween.

With that said, the basic problem of Halloween is that its views life and death issues apart from God and His redemptive plan for mankind. In short, it is idol worship. As with all things, if it doesn’t glorify God or causes someone else to stumble (believer or not); the Christian should consider it off limits. Obviously, we cannot avoid everything that might cause someone else to sin. We cannot control the misinterpretation of our actions; but with The Sprit’s leading, we can be right with God in every choice we make. My problems arise when I venture out under my own power and thereby fall flat. I thank God that His forgiveness is unending.

Finally, the biggest detriment of Halloween for me is that it is hard to raise children, the way God desires, when we practice such a ritual; ghouls, gobbling, witches, devils and all such fantasy is very hard to reconcile with a life in Christ to the young mind. Although the Bible does not specifically mention “Halloween’, it does put forth principles that are in direct conflict with what the ‘holiday’ stands for.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
