What excatly is the gospel?
Great question. There are so many so-called ministers that mention the word "gospel" or say that they "proclaim the gospel" without actually stating what it is. In short,the gospel is the ultimate act of love:
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 1 Cor. 15:3-4.
But, the important thing is what is done with this information. Knowledge of the gospel is moot unless it is acted upon. The action of humbling ones-self and trusting what the Lord Jesus did on the cross is essential in spending eternity in heaven. Rejection of this loving sacrifice results in eternal separation from God and anything that is good as no corruption can enter heaven. Now, you might be saying, I don't believe in the Bible; understood but, you can't deny that this is what the Bible says: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13
Conclusion: The choice is ours; the gospel offers a love relationship that is only valid when both parties are willing.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
