What is America's Core Competency?
On a call-in show on 29 September 2010, the question was asked; "What makes America great or What is our core
competency?
Many callers came up with the typical responses to include: our ability to change with the times and make things better, the
constitution, our diversity and sense of fairness, our people, the middle class, our youth because they are looking forward, and
our education; etc. etc.
These are thoughtful answers but, they all fall short. The follow-up question was if there was a political leader out there that could
address the issues and keep us a great nation?
In both cases the secular world is predictable; no one who responded to the questions ever looked to anything, or anyone, apart
from themselves, the government, or the here-and-now.
I'm convinced that any remaining merit that America has now, and ever had, is due to the grace and mercy of our sovereign
Creator; He as blessed this nation. The fact that our forefathers had a little faith (maybe the size of a mustard seed) is the
reason we are still hanging on. As the years past and we get farther away from being "One Nation Under God"; well, we are
living the consequences.
Yes, I know, our forefathers founded this country with the idea that government shouldn't establish a particular religion; and that
was a bad decision for this reason; secular freedom instead of spiritual freedom. Disagree? Can you explain why we have been in decline ever since.
This error (choosing to marginalize God) began our decline and we've ended up with what we have today; a nation devoid of
God's best. We are living below our privilege as a nation. So, while others suppose various reasons for Americas standing in
the world I will give all credit, thanks, and praise to a loving, longsuffering God and Savior Christ Jesus.
With that said, our decline is disturbing; God will not suffer being ignored forever; no sin goes unpunished, consequences are
horrible and judgment is certain. When we don't want to have anything to do with God, He simply grants our request. Apart
from Him, we live in error and not in (His) truth.
I had to smile when I noticed the screen-saver I happened to have on my computer as I was listening to this call-in show.
It is a picture of church bulletin board:

Sun Sermon at 9:00am "Americas Joyous Future"
Therefore, is there hope for America? It's yet to be seen, we'll have to wait, watch, pray. With that said, there is hope for the
individual; Christ in us (you and me) the hope of glory.
The core of America is determined by the character of its' individuals; is Christ in you?
