Archeology, can you dig it?

Finds of Biblical Proportions! Hearing these things, are you troubled?

News reports that the tombs of the Lord Jesus and King Herod being found have once again prompted me to opine, as it is quite entertaining. It always comes down to faith; For those who don't believe, no explanation is valid; for those that do, no explanation is necessary.

This thought then precludes that digs, when looking at the big picture, are vanity. With that said, I lean toward encouraging archeologist to keep digging because, sincere seekers find; and finding leads to eternal life.

When King Herod heard about the King of the Jews, he was worried that His position was in jeopardy, he was troubled. Therefore, he wanted to know where the Christ could be found. Quite a parallel here; mankind is still trying to find Him today; some to worship, as wise men still follow Him today; and others to disavow His diety to their own demise.

When these findings or claims arise, are you troubled? The fantastic thing about it all is that no matter how secular we become, we cannot get away from God. The truths of the scriptures are always validated; the very existence of God is written on the hearts of man, therefore, we are without excuse.

I marvel at the way we must make a willful decision and then live with the consequences; if we choose to be atheistic, we want nothing and receive nothing. If we choose a "religion" formed by imperfect hands, we receive our just rewards. On the contrary, when we die to self and yeild to God, the truth is waiting for us; Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever. He says:

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:1

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matt 7:7-8

How wonderful!

I came across this quote by Marcel Proust while writing this; I don't know what caused him to pen it but it is pertinent when thought of spiritually:

"The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new EYES."

Finding the One true God, via Jesus Christ, enables us to see what we saw previously with a new perspective, Christ-like.

Keep digging.
