Scanning the Post, I came across the "Faith-Based Pandering" article. Once again, you have misunderstood the truth behind people of faith.
The "Christian right" is united because the cause and principles are not their own; it's God's. The biblical world view clears all confusion, for instance:
-
abortion is wrong because God says so. All are created in His image.
- stem cell research is wrong because God says all life is precious. He loves the unborn.
- homosexuality is a sin because it's not God's design. He made us male and female. Marriage & Sex (between one man and one woman) was His idea.
- Sex before marriage (fornication) is wrong because sex is the sacred union in the marriage relationship. Any sex outside of the one male, one female marriage relationship is wrong. Again, God's idea.
- "...Muslims with several wives(quote from your article)" - Again, these are not people of faith because God designed one man, one woman relationships.
- "...Hindus with several deities(quote from your article)" - These are not people of faith because there is but one God; and we are to have no other God's before Him. Biblical therefore followed.
- "...I am sometimes tempted too, that God can be found in a pint of Ben & Jerry's Coffee Health Bar Crunch(quote from your article)"- God can only be found through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Only those who acknowledge and repent of their sin, and trust Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, find God.
- "...a gay Presbyterian(quote from your article) - is not a person of faith until he/she repents and turns away from sin and becomes a Christian. A Christian, by definition, is one who follows the teachings of Christ. Homosexuality does not agree with the teachings of Christ.
- "...a pro-choice Methodist - say, someone such as Hillary Clinton(quote from your article)" - is not a person of faith if she disagrees with God, God is pro life.
Baptist, Jew, Episcopalian or whomever; if he/she disagrees with God, and rejects Jesus Christ, they are not a person of "the faith". Just claiming to be devout does not please God. A person of faith desires to follow His commandments.
"Totally by mistake,...I stayed to meet Frist anyway and found him impressive. Time and tide have changed my view(quote from your article)." - You have been swept away in the tide of the secular world view where "winging it" is the rule; doing what's right in your own eyes.
On the other hand, we (the conservative right) have realized that we don't have the answers. We have surrendered our lives to the one who does, God. His answers are always right and best for all of us.
As for Bill Frist; your first impression was probably right. Time will tell if he becomes President. It really doesn't matter in the long run. My impression is that he is "a person of faith" and therefore in a win, win situation. His real character (known only to God) will be revealed in time.
