In early August 2005, a co-worker was invited to a new church. This "church is different" was the line given; meaning it was a liberal church. Subsequently, the question given by my co-worker to this invitation was very profound, he asked, "What do they do with Christmas and Easter?" What a glorious observation.

The underlying question to every so-called church is who do you say Jesus Christ is? What are you doing with the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ? What are you doing with Christmas and Easter: the friend of my co-worker had no answer to this, as liberal churches are not equipped to agree that God is sovereign and that Jesus Christ is God.

Why attend a church which has no foundation for truth? That doesn't challenge one to live as God intends, for the benefit of others? Because mankind is self-centeredness and many are unable to accept that they sinners. We are in need of a Savior (and that's all of us). We cannot approach a Holy, pure and perfect God without a sin substitute. We must choose Christ as out sin-bearer to be right before God. This is the only way we can enter heaven. If sin entered heaven, God would be defiled.

The problem with liberal churches is that they are trying to take God out of the equation; thereby freeing themselves from accountability. This too is vanity. There are always consequences to living outside of God's will. We all are accountable before God.

Mankind cannot help but search for meaning in life because God has placed a God-sized hole in every life. All are seeking fellowship with God; the problem is that some don't want to come to God His way. The deterrent to many is personal sin and the pride of life.

Many will miss out on God's best in this life and continue separated from Him throughout eternity due to deception and the enjoyment of sin which only lasts a moment. How about you, are you missing Christmas and Easter?
